These DIY Shallow Water Anchor Extension Kits are for use with the Max-Gain Systems, Inc. DIY Shallow Water Anchor Kits. They are designed to be extensions for modular shallow water anchor systems. The modular extensions include one piece, of the desired outer diameter and color, of fiberglass and one male and one female stainless steel coupler. If you need a full shallow water anchor system, we have full DIY anchor kits available from 8 feet long up to 16 feet long!
We have kits that use these extension kits in them already. These kits may be used to extend your “already modular” shallow water anchor OR extend your existing shallow water anchor.
Example of a DIY Shallow Water Anchor Kit with extensions:

In order to extend your existing shallow water anchor, that is not already modular using our stainless steel couplers, you will need two additional items being one additional male AND one female stainless steel coupling of the correct diameter. Each DIY Shallow Water Anchor Extension Kit includes one piece of fiberglass? and one male and one female coupling. You will need to cut your current anchor, at the location down the shaft, where you want to make it modular. Allowing for use with DIY Shallow Water Anchor Extension Kits AND our incredibly useful DIY Modular 4-IN-1 Paddle Kits. You will need a “fine toothed hacksaw, miter saw with an abrasive cutting wheel, and/or an angle grinder with a metal/masonry cut-off wheel in order to make the perfectly flat cut you will need in order to secure your Stainless Steel Couplers to the rod. Apply your JB Weld (Original Cold Weld Formula, DO NOT use Marine JB Weld) to the outside of the rod in three vertical strips, equidistant around the rod. This will allow you to put the coupler onto the rod while allowing a gap for the air to escape from. If you dont do this, air will be trapped on the end of the fiberglass rod making for a weaker bond between the fiberglass and the stainless steel coupler. Once the coupler is on the rod and the air has escaped from between the coupler and fiberglass, give the coupler a few quarter turns, both left and right, in order to spread the JB Weld around the fiberglass rod. Allow 24 hours for the JB Weld to completely cure and set. When the couplers are all installed you are ready to use your extension.
