Crucial Product Note Before-You-Buy:
These products are 3/4×5 Acme threaded female to rod (or tube) blank. Each one fits on the end of a 3/4 inch OD (OR) 1 inch OD round solid rod or tube. In order to get a double female threaded painter’s pole coupling, this can be achieved by the following two setups:
2x 1 inch OD couplings
1x short piece of 1 inch OD Round Fiberglass Tube
Once you add those pieces to your cart (be sure to add 2x of the coupling and 1 of the tube per setup), you will have enough pieces to make a 34×5 acme threaded (on both sides) coupling with a 1 inch OD tube.
2x 3/4 inch OD couplings
1x short piece of 3/4 inch OD Round Fiberglass Tube
Once you add those pieces to your cart (be sure to add 2x of the coupling and 1 of the tube per setup), you will have enough pieces to make a 34×5 acme threaded (on both sides) coupling with a 3/4 inch OD tube.
Assembly
The best adhesive to use to attach the painters pole attachments to then ends of the fiberglass tubing (or any tube or rod that is smaller than the ID these will accept) is JB Weld, Original Cold-Weld Formula. Mix the epoxy then apply a generous layer around the end of the tubing or rod. Slide on the coupling and allow time to set.
One additional method could be used and that is the “pinning” method. Place the part on the end of the tube or rod. With the part “seated” drill a 9/64″ hole through the overlap area. Insert a #6:32 machine screw of the corresponding length to the largest diameter piece being drilled. An illustration of this method is below:
For Pinning through:
- 1 inch OD Parts, use #6:32 round-head machine screws, 1.25 inches long.
- 1.25 inch OD Parts, use #6:32 round-head machine screws, 1.50 inches long.
